Abstract
A user equipment (UE) running an application can implement a method for managing reporting for a route selection policy for the UE. The method includes: (i) evaluating a selection policy rule received (302) from a core network (CN) node; (ii) determining (304), based on the evaluation of the selection policy rule, that a traffic descriptor for the selection policy rule is associated with an application descriptor for the application; and (iii) transmitting (306), in response to the determining, reporting information to the CN node in accordance with the selection policy rule.

A method for supporting a route selection policy for a user equipment (UE) running an application, the method implemented in the UE and comprising:
- evaluating a route selection policy rule received from a core network (CN) node;
- determining, based on the evaluation of the route selection policy rule, that a traffic descriptor for the route selection policy rule includes one or more connection capabilities;
- and
- transmitting, in response to the determining, route selection policy rule enforcement reporting information to the CN node in accordance with the route selection policy rule.

A method for supporting a route selection policy for a user equipment (UE) running an application, the method implemented in a node of a core network (CN) and comprising:
- configuring a route selection policy rule including a traffic descriptor that includes one or more connection capabilities for the UE;
- transmitting the configured route selection policy rule to the UE;
- and
- receiving, when the traffic descriptor includes the one or more connection capabilities for the UE, route selection policy rule enforcement reporting information from the UE in accordance with the configured route selection policy rule.

An apparatus functioning as a user equipment (UE), the apparatus comprising:
- processing hardware configured to:
- evaluate a route selection policy rule received from a core network (CN) node;
- determine, based on the evaluation of the route selection policy rule, that a traffic descriptor for the route selection policy rule includes one or more connection capabilities;
- and
- transmit, in response to the determining, route selection policy rule enforcement reporting information to the CN node in accordance with the route selection policy rule.
