Abstract
A video encoder determines, based on a block vector, a reference block in a same picture as a current block for predicting the current block. The encoder applies an affine transform with affine transform parameters to samples of the reference block to generate an affine transformed reference block. The encoder further determines a residual of the current block based on the affine transformed reference block, and encodes, in a bitstream, an indication of the block vector, the residual of the current block, an indication of the affine transform, and the affine transform parameters.

A method comprising:
- determining, based on a block vector, a reference block in a same picture as a current block for predicting the current block;
- applying an affine transform with affine transform parameters to samples of the reference block to generate an affine transformed reference block;
- determining a residual of the current block based on the affine transformed reference block;
- and
- encoding, in a bitstream, an indication of the block vector, the residual of the current block, an indication of the affine transform, and the affine transform parameters.
An encoder comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the encoder to:
- determine, based on a block vector, a reference block in a same picture as a current block for predicting the current block;
- apply an affine transform with affine transform parameters to samples of the reference block to generate an affine transformed reference block;
- determine a residual of the current block based on the affine transformed reference block;
- and
- encode, in a bitstream, an indication of the block vector, the residual of the current block, an indication of the affine transform, and the affine transform parameters.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of an encoder, cause the encoder to:
- determine, based on a block vector, a reference block in a same picture as a current block for predicting the current block;
- apply an affine transform with affine transform parameters to samples of the reference block to generate an affine transformed reference block;
- determine a residual of the current block based on the affine transformed reference block;
- and
- encode, in a bitstream, an indication of the block vector, the residual of the current block, an indication of the affine transform, and the affine transform parameters.
