Abstract
A video encoding/decoding method and device according to the present invention may: determine a reference area for the intra prediction of the current block; derive the intra prediction mode of the current block; and decode the current block on the basis of the reference area and the intra prediction mode.

A method of decoding an image, the method comprising:
- obtaining, from a bitstream, number information indicating a number of subpictures belonging to a current picture;
- obtaining, from the bitstream, size information and position information of each subpicture based on the number information;
- and
- decoding the current picture based on the subpictures specified by the size information and the position information,
- wherein the position information of a subpicture includes an x-coordinate and a y-coordinate of a top-left position of the subpicture,
- wherein, when a specific subpicture is a first subpicture in the current picture, the obtaining of the position information for the specific subpicture is omitted,
- wherein, when the number of subpictures belonging to the current picture is one, the obtaining of the position information and the size information is omitted, and
- wherein one subpicture includes one or more slices, and one slice is not allowed to be divided to overlap a plurality of subpictures.

- generating the bitstream by encoding an image based on an image encoding method;
- and
- transmitting the bitstream, and
- wherein the image encoding method comprising:

- encoding, into the bitstream, size information and position information of each subpicture based on the number information;

- encoding the current picture based on the subpictures specified by the size information and the position information,
