Abstract
Data compression for fast decompression includes generating, by computer hardware, a compressed data stream by compressing data using a data compression technique. The compressed data stream is generated by the computer hardware while enforcing one or more compression constraints for the compression technique. A metadata frame is generated by the computer hardware specifying the one or more compression constraints. The compressed data stream including the metadata frame is output by the computer hardware. A tuner may be used to specify a particular decompression level implemented during compression and/or to select a particular compression having a particular configuration for performing compression.
Claims20
A method, comprising:
- generating, by computer hardware, a compressed data stream by compressing data using a data compression technique;
- wherein the compressed data stream is generated while enforcing one or more compression constraints for the compression technique;
- generating, by the computer hardware, a metadata frame specifying the one or more compression constraints;
- and
- outputting, by the computer hardware, the compressed data stream including the metadata frame.
A method, comprising:
- in response to receiving a compressed data stream, checking, by computer hardware, the compressed data stream for a metadata frame;
- in response to detecting the metadata frame, detecting, by the computer hardware and from the metadata frame, one or more compression constraints enforced during generation of the compressed data stream;
- selecting a selected decompressor from a plurality of different decompressors based on the one or more compression constraints;
- and
- decompressing, by the computer hardware, the compressed data stream using the selected decompressor.
A system, comprising:
- a hardware device capable of implementing operations including:
- generating a compressed data stream by compressing data using a data compression technique;
- wherein the compressed data stream is generated while enforcing one or more compression constraints for the compression technique;
- generating a metadata frame specifying the one or more compression constraints;
- and
- outputting the compressed data stream including the metadata frame.
