Abstract
A method and apparatus for monitoring a fire in a battery. The method of monitoring a fire in a battery includes: obtaining a temperature of a battery module; comparing a temperature change amount of the battery module with a reference temperature change amount during a reference time, if the temperature of the battery module reaches a predetermined temperature setting value; changing the reference time or the reference temperature change amount, if the temperature change amount is less than the reference temperature change amount; and disconnecting a connection between the battery module and a load, if the temperature change amount is equal to or greater than the reference temperature change amount.
Claims15
A method of monitoring a fire in a battery comprising:
- obtaining a temperature of a battery module;
- comparing a temperature change amount of the battery module with a reference temperature change amount during a reference time, if the temperature of the battery module reaches a predetermined temperature setting value;
- changing the reference time or the reference temperature change amount, if the temperature change amount is less than the reference temperature change amount;
- and
- disconnecting a connection between the battery module and a load, if the temperature change amount is equal to or greater than the reference temperature change amount.
An apparatus for monitoring a fire in a battery comprising:
- a temperature sensor configured to measure a temperature of a battery module;
- and
- a controller configured to perform fire monitoring, wherein the fire monitoring compares a temperature change amount of the battery module during a reference time with a reference temperature change amount, if the temperature of the battery module reaches a predetermined temperature setting value, and wherein the fire monitoring changes the reference time or the reference temperature change amount based on the temperature change amount during the reference time.
