An image reading apparatus includes an image reading device, an operation device, and a controller. The image reading device reads a document, and generates image data. To the operation device, an instruction of a user is inputted. The controller executes a process including setting, when a selection instruction for selecting one of a plurality of folders, use of which is restricted, as saving destination, is received through the operation device, and a predetermined condition for cancelling the use restriction of the folder as the saving destination is satisfied, the folder indicated by the selection instruction as the saving destination of the image data, and saving the image data in the set saving destination.
