Two-phase snapshot recovery

A data management and storage (DMS) platform, comprising:

• one or more memories storing processor-executable code;
• and
• one or more processors coupled with the one or more memories and individually or collectively operable to execute the code to cause the DMS platform to:
• download, based at least in part on scanning one or more cloud patch files to identify data from the one or more cloud patch files associated with recovery of a snapshot of a computing system, at least a portion of the data from the one or more cloud patch files, the at least the portion of the data being associated with the snapshot of the computing system and omitting at least some redundant data of the data, wherein the one or more cloud patch files correspond to one or more respective snapshots of the computing system at one or more respective points in time;
• create a local patch file based at least in part on the at least the portion of the data associated with the snapshot;
• and
• restore the computing system to a point in time state associated with the snapshot based at least in part on the local patch file.

A non-transitory machine-readable medium comprising instructions executable by at least one processor to implement operations comprising:

• downloading, by the at least one processor and based at least in part on scanning one or more cloud patch files to identify data from the one or more cloud patch files associated with recovery of a snapshot of a computing system, at least a portion of the data from the one or more cloud patch files, the at least the portion of the data being associated with the snapshot of the computing system and omitting at least some redundant data of the data, wherein the one or more cloud patch files correspond to one or more respective snapshots of the computing system at one or more respective points in time;
• creating, by the at least one processor, a local patch file based at least in part on the at least the portion of the data associated with the snapshot;
• and
• restoring, by the at least one processor, the computing system to a point in time state associated with the snapshot based at least in part on the local patch file.
