Abstract
A method for loading an executable is described. The method includes identifying compiled code and data sections that map to a specific type of system memory. The method also includes grouping the identified code and data sections in individual executable and linkable format (ELF) segments in an ELF file. The method further includes embedding an encoded memory mapping scheme of each memory type of the compiled code and data sections in a notes section of the ELF file. The method also includes generating a program header table to identify the notes section of the ELF file.
Claims18
A method for loading an executable, the method comprising:
- identifying compiled code and data sections that map to a specific type of system memory;
- grouping the identified code and data sections in individual executable and linkable format (ELF) segments in an ELF file;
- embedding an encoded memory mapping scheme of each memory type of the compiled code and data sections in a notes section of the ELF file;
- and
- generating a program header table to identify the notes section of the ELF file.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium having program code recorded thereon for loading an executable, the program code being executed by a processor and comprising:
- program code to identify compiled code and data sections that map to a specific type of system memory;
- program code to group the identified code and data sections in individual executable and linkable format (ELF) segments in an ELF file;
- program code to embed an encoded memory mapping scheme of each memory type of the compiled code and data sections in a notes section of the ELF file;
- and
- program code to generate a program header table to identify the notes section of the ELF file.
