Abstract
A monofunctional urea-based organosilicon monomer represented by a structure of Formula I: wherein R, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, m and n are as defined herein. An ophthalmic device having optical clarity is a polymerization product of a monomeric mixture including (a) one or more monofunctional urea-based organosilicon monomers represented by a structure of Formula I, and (b) one or more ophthalmic device-forming hydrophilic comonomers or polymers.
