Abstract
A liner for a shaped charge, the liner being a generally conical liner, in which the liner is formed from metal or metal alloy and in which the liner has an internal apex angle in 5 the range of approximately 105-110 degrees.
Claims20
An explosive ordnance neutralization system comprising:
- an explosive shaped charge configured to produce a low-order event in a target munition, the charge having a single liner, the single liner being a cone, wherein the cone is formed from magnesium or a magnesium alloy, and wherein the cone has an internal apex angle in the range of approximately 105-110 degrees.
A method of neutralizing explosive ordnance comprising the steps of:
- providing an explosive shaped charge configured to produce a low-order event in a target munition, the charge having a single liner, the single liner being a cone, wherein the cone is formed from magnesium or a magnesium alloy, wherein the cone has an internal apex angle in the range of approximately 105-110 degrees;
- and
- causing said ordnance to deflagrate or burn rather than detonate in a low-order event.
A shaped charge configured to produce a non-explosive reaction that does not cause a detonation in a target, the shaped charge comprising:
- a projectile that produces the conditions for producing a low-order event by using a low-density metallic material capable of burning, the shape of the projectile is such that it is in a transition phase between a conical shaped charge capable of deep penetration and an explosively formed projectile capable of travelling great distances.
