Abstract
A modality for preventing or treating fibrotic diseases by identifying a marker protein for myofibroblasts is provided. The present invention relates to prophylactic or therapeutic agents for fibrotic diseases, which contain an inhibitor of GPR176 as an active ingredient.
Claims6
A method for treating a fibrotic disease, said method comprising administering an effective amount of an inhibitor of G protein-coupled receptor 176 (GPR176) to a patient in need thereof,
- wherein the inhibitor of GPR176 is an inhibitor of the GPR176 expression;
- and
- wherein the inhibitor of the GPR176 expression is a substance that inhibits the expression of the gene or nucleic acid represented by any one of (a) to (c):
- (a) the GPR176 gene of SEQ ID NO:
- 2, 4 or 6;
- (b) a nucleic acid that comprises a base sequence containing a deletion, a substitution or an addition of one or several bases in the GPR176 gene of SEQ ID NO:
- 2, 4 or 6;
- and
- (c) a nucleic acid that hybridizes under stringent conditions with a base sequence complementary to the GPR176 gene of SEQ ID NO:
- 2, 4 or 6.
A method for treating a fibrotic disease, said method comprising administering an effective amount of an inhibitor of G protein-coupled receptor 176 (GPR176) to a patient in need thereof,
- wherein the inhibitor of GPR176 is an inhibitor of the GPR176 function;
- and
- wherein the inhibitor is an antibody or an antibody fragment specifically binding to the GPR176 protein.
A method of screening for an inhibitor of GPR176, which comprises
- preparing a candidate compound;
- contacting said candidate compound to a cell comprising a gene or nucleic acid;
- and
- confirming that the candidate compound inhibits an expression of the gene or nucleic acid;
- wherein said gene or nucleic acid is one of (a) to (c):
- (a) the GPR176 gene set forth in any one of SEQ ID NOs:
- 2, 4, 6 or 8;
- (b) a nucleic acid that comprises a base sequence containing a deletion, a substitution or an addition of one or several bases in the GPR176 gene set forth in any one of SEQ ID NOs:
- 2, 4, 6 or 8;
- and
- (c) a nucleic acid that hybridizes under stringent conditions with a base sequence complementary to the GPR176 gene set forth in any one of SEQ ID NOs:
- 2, 4, 6 or 8.
