Abstract
An electric power generation system for an aircraft and its emergency power solutions are disclosed. The electric power network includes the electric power generation system, and an aircraft including the electric power generation system.
Claims16
An electric power generation system for an aircraft, comprising:
- at least two Ram Air Turbine (RAT) units, wherein each RAT unit has a respective electrical output;
- at least one AC/AC converter;
- at least two generators, wherein each generator is adapted to be connected to a respective engine, wherein each generator has a respective electrical output;
- one respective switching means for each AC/AC converter, each switching means being configured for selectively connecting either the electrical output of one generator or the electrical output of at least one RAT unit to the input of the respective AC/AC converter;
- and,
- a control unit configured for commanding the at least one switching means such that, in a situation when all of the engines fail, the control unit commands the at least one switching means to connect the output of at least one RAT unit to the input of the respective AC/AC converter.
