Abstract
A sealing assembly includes a stator bush to be fasten to a housing, and an upper seal pair and a lower seal pair. Both seal pairs include a pair of seal rings forming a slide surface between the pair of seal rings and the seal rings are slidable against each other. In each of the pair of seal rings, a first seal ring is stationary coupled to the stator bush while a second seal ring is rotatable and coupled to the rotor shaft. The slide surfaces of the upper and lower seal pairs are cooled/lubricated with a sealing liquid when in use. The stator bush includes a sleeve forming a weir forming an annular volume for the sealing liquid. The stator bush includes a fluid channel opening to the annular volume to provide the sealing liquid to the annular volume.
Claims12
A sealing assembly for sealing a rotor shaft for a vertical axis pump/mixer to prevent liquid flow between a housing and the rotor shaft, the sealing assembly comprising:
- a stator bush to be fasten to the housing;
- an upper seal pair;
- and
- a lower seal pair, both the upper seal pair and the lower seal pair comprising a pair of seal rings forming a slide surface between the pair of seal rings and the seal rings being slidable against each other, in each of the pairs of seal rings, a first seal ring is stationarily coupled to the stator bush while a second seal ring is rotatable and coupled to the rotor shaft, the slide surfaces of both upper seal pair and lower seal pair are configured to be cooled/and lubricated with sealing liquid when in use,
- the stator bush comprising a sleeve forming a weir forming an annular volume for sealing liquid, the stator bush including a fluid channel opening to the annular volume to provide the sealing liquid to the annular volume, a height of the weir is greater than a level of the slide surface of the upper seal pair in an axial direction so that a level of the sealing liquid is above the slide surface of the upper seal pair.
A vertical axis pump/mixer comprising:
- a rotor shaft;
- a housing;
- and
- a sealing assembly to seal the rotor shaft to prevent liquid flow between the housing and the rotor shaft, the sealing assembly comprising a stator bush to be fasten to the housing, and an upper seal pair and a lower seal pair, both the upper seal pair and the lower seal pair comprising a pair of seal rings forming a slide surface between the pair of seal rings and the seal rings being slidable against each other, in each of the pairs of seal rings, a first seal ring is stationarily coupled to the stator bush while a second seal ring is rotatable and coupled to the rotor shaft, the slide surfaces of both upper seal pair and lower seal pair are configured to be cooled/and lubricated with sealing liquid when in use, the stator bush comprising a sleeve forming a weir forming an annular volume for sealing liquid, the stator bush including a fluid channel opening to the annular volume to provide the sealing liquid to the annular volume, a height of the weir is greater than a level of the slide surface of the upper seal pair in an axial direction so that a level of the sealing liquid is above the slide surface of the upper seal pair.
