Method and system for ensuring and tracking hand hygiene compliance

A system comprising:

• a hand hygiene dispenser comprising:
• a container configured to dispense hand sanitizing solution responsive to a dispenser activation by a user,
• a memory storing a tag identifier unique to the hand hygiene dispenser, the tag identifier associated with a user code assigned to the user,
• a microprocessor configured to detect whether a predetermined amount of the hand sanitizing solution is used in a plurality of dispenser activations during a working time of a shift of a user, wherein detecting whether the predetermined amount of the hand sanitizing solution is used during the working time of the shift comprises:
• receiving data indicative of a measured amount of the hand sanitizing solution within the container, and
• comparing a total number of dispenser activations occurring during the working time of the shift of the user with the measured amount of the hand sanitizing solution in the container at an end of the shift;
• and
• a transmitter configured to transmit the tag identifier and at least one of:
• (a) a time that the hand hygiene dispenser was within a target area, (b) a of the dispenser activation, or (c) a location of the hand hygiene dispenser, and
• a computing device configured to receive the tag identifier and the at least one of:
• (a) the time that the hand hygiene dispenser was within the target area, (b) the time of the dispenser activation, or (c) the location of the hand hygiene dispenser from the transmitter of the hand hygiene dispenser and to operate a display to display the user code and the at least one of:
• (a) the time that the hand hygiene dispenser was within the target area, (b) the time of the dispenser activation, or (c) the location of the hand hygiene dispenser from the transmitter of the hand hygiene dispenser.

A method comprising:

• determining, by a microprocessor of a hand hygiene dispenser, a working time of a shift, the working time of the shift indicating an amount of time over a duration of the shift that the hand hygiene dispenser was carried by a user;
• receiving, by the microprocessor, data indicative of a measured amount of hand sanitizing solution within a container of the hand hygiene dispenser at an end of the shift;
• comparing, by the microprocessor, a total number of dispenser activations occurring during the working time with the measured amount;
• and
• transmitting, by a transmitter of the hand hygiene dispenser, a tag identifier of the hand hygiene dispenser and at least one of:
• (a) a time that the hand hygiene dispenser was within a target area, (b) a time of the dispenser activation, or (c) a location of the hand hygiene dispenser, to a computing device.
