Abstract
A fishing reel is capable of adding drag force without an increase in reel size. The fishing reel includes a reel body. A handle is rotatably mounted on the reel body and a drive shaft is configured to rotate integrally with the handle. A drive gear is arranged around the drive shaft. In the fishing reel, a first drag mechanism configured to restrict relative rotation between the drive gear and the drive shaft, and a second drag mechanism is configured to restrict rotation of the drive gear relative to the reel body.

A fishing reel, comprising:
- a reel body;
- a handle rotatably mounted on the reel body;
- a drive shaft configured to rotate integrally with the handle;
- a drive gear arranged around the drive shaft;
- a first drag mechanism configured to restrict relative rotation between the drive gear and the drive shaft;
- and
- a second drag mechanism configured to restrict rotation of the drive gear relative to the reel body.
