X-ray systems including an adapter

An adapter comprising:

• a first connector interface for physical and electrical connection to an x-ray detector;
• a second connector interface for physical and electrical connection to a computing device;
• and
• a control logic connected to the first connector interface and the second connector interface, wherein:
• the control logic is configured to convert between a first signal with a first format at the first connector interface and a second signal with a second format at the second connector interface.

A method comprising:

• coupling an adapter to an exterior of a housing of an x-ray detector;
• receiving a signal having a first format at the adapter;
• converting the signal having the first format into a signal having a second format in the adapter by:
• presenting a first functional interface by the adapter;
• and
• presenting a second functional interface by the adapter to the x-ray detector;
• and
• converting information received through the first functional interface into the second format for the second functional interface.
