A method for sonoelectrochemically decontaminating irradiated nuclear graphite comprising: immersing the irradiated nuclear graphite in an electrolyte (14); subjecting the irradiated nuclear graphite to a sonoelectrochemical treatment comprising one or more electrochemical and ultrasonic cycles; and collecting the contaminants removed from the irradiated nuclear graphite on one or more contaminant coated cathodes (24) is provided. A method of sonoelectrochemical treatment comprising subjecting the irradiated nuclear graphite to a plurality of alternating electrochemical and ultrasonic pulses is also provided. A sonoelectrochemical device for removing selected contaminants from irradiated nuclear graphite is also provided. Furthermore, the regeneration and reuse of graphite for energy storage devices and systems is envisaged.
A method for sonoelectrochemically decontaminating irradiated nuclear graphite, the method comprising:
A sonoelectrochemical device for removing contaminated graphene and/or graphene derivatives from irradiated nuclear graphite suspended in an electrolyte, the device comprising:
