Abstract
An insert according to the present disclosure includes a base and a coating layer covering a surface of the base. The base is made of cermet. The insert according to an embodiment includes an intermediate layer containing Ti and Ar and located between the base and the coating layer.

An insert, comprising:
- a base containing a cermet material;
- a coating layer located on the base, and
- an intermediate layer located between the base and the coating layer and containing Ti and Ar.
