Passenger seat airbag device

A passenger seat airbag device, comprising:

• an airbag that is disposed in front of an occupant seated in a passenger seat and is folded and stored in a storage portion;
• an inflator that supplies an inflation gas to the airbag;
• and
• a control mechanism that controls an inflation shape of the airbag, wherein
• the airbag is formed in a bag shape having flexibility, and includes:
• a main bag portion provided with an inflow opening for allowing the inflation gas to flow into an inside of the airbag, and configured to have an occupant-side wall portion disposed to face the occupant on a rear end side at a time of full inflation, in which a peripheral edge of the inflow opening on a front end side at the time of full inflation is coupled to a side of the storage portion;
• and
• a subsidiary bag portion configured to communicate with the main bag portion and to be inflated to protrude rearward from a side of the occupant-side wall portion, in which inflation of the subsidiary bag portion is controlled by the control mechanism,
• the airbag further includes a coupling member disposed in the main bag portion, the coupling member having a base end portion which is coupled to an inner peripheral surface of the subsidiary bag portion and a distal end portion which is coupled to the control mechanism disposed in a vicinity of the inflow opening, and
• the subsidiary bag portion communicates with the main bag portion via a communication portion, and is configured,
• when the main bag portion is inflated in a state where coupling between the coupling member and the control mechanism is maintained, to be in a state of being drawn into the main bag portion through the communication portion, and
• when the main bag portion is inflated in a state where the coupling between the coupling member and the control mechanism is released, to be inflated to protrude rearward from the occupant-side wall portion such that the occupant is protected by a rear surface of the subsidiary bag portion at a time of full inflation.
