Methods for preparing a polyster film and compositions thereof

A polyester product comprising:

• (i) terephthalic acid (TPA) or dimethyl terephthalate (DMT)
• (ii) ethylene glycol (EG),
• (iii) a modifier component, and
• (iv) recycled material.

A method for manufacturing a heat-shrinkable polyester film comprising:

• (a) heating a mixture comprising terephthalic acid (TPA) or dimethyl terephthalate (DMT), ethylene glycol (EG), a modifier component, and recycled material, to a temperature of from about 230° C. to about 280° C. to undergo esterification and to provide an esterified product;
• (b) passing the esterified product through a filter having a pore size of from about 5 μm to about 20 μm and at a pressure difference per hour of less than about 0.1 bar per hour;
• (c) heating the esterified product in the presence of a catalyst and heat stabilizer to undergo polymerization and to provide a polyester product;
• (d) processing the polyester product to provide a polyester resin;
• (e) extruding the polyester resin to provide a sheet;
• and
• (f) subjecting the sheet to a film formation process to provide the heat-shrinkable polyester film,
• wherein the recycled material has a pressure difference of less than 25 bar when applied to the following:

• wherein P1 is the baseline pressure of a washing material when the washing material is passed through a 14 micron filter and P2 is the plateau pressure of the washing material after the addition and depletion of about 1 kilogram of recycled material when passed through a 14 micron filter,
• wherein the esterified product has a viscosity of less than about 1500 poise, and
• wherein the heat-shrinkable polyester film has less than or equal to about 10 particles per a region, wherein the region has a surface area of 1 mm2 and a thickness of 40 μm, and wherein the particles have a diameter of greater than about 20 μm.

A method for manufacturing a polyester product comprising:

• (a) heating a mixture comprising terephthalic acid (TPA) or dimethyl terephthalate (DMT), ethylene glycol (EG), a modifier component, and recycled material to a temperature of from about 230° C. to about 280° C. to undergo esterification and to provide an esterified product;
• (b) passing the esterified product through a filter having a pore size of from about 5 microns to about 20 microns and at a pressure difference per hour of less than about 0.1 bar per hour;
• and
• (c) heating the esterified product in the presence of a catalyst and heat stabilizer to undergo polymerization and to provide a polyester product;
• wherein the recycled material has a pressure difference of less than 25 bar when applied to the following:
