Augmented suture construct for syndesmotic stabilization

An anchoring system, comprising:

• a bone plate having a top surface defining at least one hole sized to receive a first end of a suture for retention, the first end being coupled to the bone plate so that a portion of the suture engages the top surface of the bone plate;
• and
• a tissue anchor coupled to a second end of the suture, wherein the tissue anchor is configured to couple the suture to a first bone thereby fixing the position of the first bone relative to a second bone so as to allow connective tissue to refuse.

An anchoring system, comprising:

• a bone plate having a top face and defining a hole sized and configured to receive a portion of a first end of a suture so as to be fixed to the bone plate and that engages the top face and a bone surface;
• and
• a tissue anchor coupled to a second end of the suture, wherein the tissue anchor is configured to couple the second end of the suture to the bone.

A tissue anchor comprising:

• a body defining an internal channel;
• and
• a peg extending through the internal channel, the peg configured such that a flexible strand passed around the peg enables tightening and/or loosening of the strand after installation of the tissue anchor in bone.
