A medical device configured to contact a specimen through its distal end, the medical device comprising: a) a torsional ultrasonic waves transducer located at the distal end of the medical device and configured to induce a torsional wave that goes through said specimen, b) a force sensor configured to determine the force with which the medical device contacts the specimen, and c) a processing unit. The torsional ultrasonic waves transducer is configured to contact the specimen with a predetermined range of force and the processing unit is configured to determine whether the force with which the medical device contacts the specimen is within the predetermined range of force. The specimen is the cervix of a uterus and the torsional ultrasonic waves transducer is configured to contact the cervix with a range between 0 and 200 g/cm2. It also relates to a device thereof configured for the arrangement of a membrane in the medical device.
Medical device (100) configured to contact a specimen (200) through its distal end (190), the medical device (100) comprising:
The medical device (100) according to any one of the previous claims, wherein the force sensor (20) is comprised within the distal section (180) of the medical device (100).
The medical device (100) according to any one of the previous claims, wherein the force sensor (20) is located perpendicularly to the surface of the medical device (100) configured to contact the specimen (200).
The medical device (100) according to any one of the previous claims, wherein the force sensor (20) is comprised between a proximal section (120) of the medical device (100) and a distal section (180) of the medical device (100).
The medical device (100) according to any one of the previous claims, wherein the force sensor (20) further comprises a protection system configured to prevent the force sensor (20) from getting damaged when a force exceeding the working range is applied to the distal end (190) of the medical device (100), preferably wherein the protection system comprises a spring (21).
The medical device (100) according to any of the previous claims, further comprising a handle (50) on its proximal end (110) configured to be held by a hand and with an angle (α) comprised between 85° and 120° with respect to the axis (130) formed by the distal end (190) and proximal end (110).
The medical device (100) according to any of the previous claims, wherein the processing unit (30) is configured to discard the readings of torsional ultrasonic waves transducer (10) if the force applied is not within the predetermined range of force.
The medical device (100) according to any of the previous claims, wherein the processing unit (30) is configured to prevent the torsional ultrasonic waves transducer (10) from inducing torsional waves if the force applied is not within the predetermined range of force.
The medical device (100) according to any of the previous claims, wherein the torsional ultrasonic waves transducer (10) comprises an emitter device for emitting torsional ultrasonic waves, wherein the emitter device comprises an electrical signal generator (13) connected to an electromechanical actuator (12) which is in turn attached to a contact element (11) that comes into contact with a specimen (200), such that when the actuator receives electrical signals, it induces rotational movement of the contact element (11), and when said contact element (11) comes into contact with the specimen (200), it induces a torsional wave that goes through said specimen (200), wherein the torsional ultrasonic waves transducer (10) further comprises means for receiving the distorted signal after it goes through the specimen (200).
The medical device (100) according to any of the previous claims, wherein the medical device (100) further comprises:
The medical device (100) according to any of the previous claims wherein the medical device (100) is a probe.
Device (300) configured for the arrangement of a membrane (70) in a probe (100), the device (300) being essentially elongated, configured to receive a probe (100) longitudinally and comprising a proximal zone and a distal zone, comprising in its proximal zone:
Device (300) in accordance with any one of claims 35 to 43, wherein the device comprises at least one lateral opening (312) configured to allow visualization of the membrane (70) arrangement over the probe (100).
