Abstract
A cone filling and compaction machine includes a conical insert configured to slide into a top of a conical wrapper. The machine also includes a collar having a center aperture and the collar is coupled to the conical insert. In addition, the machine includes a compaction rod having a proximal end and an opposing distal end, where the compaction rod is slidingly engaged with the center aperture of the collar. The machine includes a clamp having a first portion and a second portion and the clamp is configured to temporarily secure the top of the conical wrapper to the conical insert as contents of the conical wrapper are being compacted.
Claims20
A cone filling and compaction machine comprising:
- a conical insert configured to slide into a top of a conical wrapper;
- a collar coupled to the conical insert and having a center aperture;
- a compaction rod having a proximal end and an opposing distal end, the compaction rod slidingly engaged with the center aperture of the collar;
- and
- a clamp having a first portion and a second portion, the clamp is configured to temporarily secure the top of the conical wrapper to the conical insert as contents of the conical wrapper are being compacted by the distal end of the compaction rod.
A cone filling and compaction machine comprising:
- a conical insert having an outer surface configured to slide into a top of a conical wrapper;
- a clamp having a first portion and a second portion, the first position and the second portion configured to move from an open position to a closed position around the conical insert to grip the top of the conical wrapper between the outer surface of the conical insert and an inner surface of the clamp;
- and
- a compaction rod having a proximal end and an opposing distal end, the compaction rod positioned to cyclically slide up and down through the conical insert into the conical wrapper to compact the contents.
A method to compact the contents of a conical wrapper using a machine comprising a conical insert having an outer surface configured to slide into a top of a conical wrapper, a clamp configured to grip the top of the conical wrapper between the outer surface of the conical insert and an inside surface of the clamp, and a compaction rod passing concentrically through the conical insert having a proximal end and an opposing distal end, the method comprising:
- positioning the conical wrapper in an upright position;
- inserting the conical insert into the top of the conical wrapper;
- and
- moving the clamp to a closed position to grip the top of the conical wrapper between the outer surface of the conical insert and an inner surface of the clamp;
- and
- tamping the contents of conical wrapper with the compaction rod.
