Method and device for transferring a profile between two secure elements

A method for transferring a current profile from a source secure element on a source device to a target secure element on a target device, the method comprising the following steps by the source secure element:

• the source secure element monitoring and recording the changes made to an initial profile installed in the source secure element to obtain the current profile;
• the source secure element generating a difference file relating to differences between the initial profile and the current profile on the basis of the recorded changes;
• and
• transmitting the difference file to the target device or to an SM-DP+ server.

A method for transferring a current profile from a source secure element on a source device to a target secure element on a target device, the method comprising the following steps by the target secure element:

• loading and installing an initial profile;
• receiving a difference file relating to differences between the initial profile and the current profile;
• and
• applying the difference file to the installed initial profile to obtain the current profile.

A source secure element comprising a processor, the processor being configured to perform the following steps to transfer a current profile from a source secure element on a source device to a target secure element on a target device:

• monitoring and recording the changes made to an initial profile installed in the source secure element to obtain the current profile;
• the source secure element generating a difference file relating to differences between the initial profile and the current profile on the basis of the recorded changes;
• and
• transmitting the difference file to the target device or to an SM-DP+ server.

A target secure element comprising a processor, the processor being configured to perform the following steps to transfer a current profile from a source secure element on a source device to the target secure element on a target device:

• loading and installing an initial profile;
• receiving a difference file relating to differences between the initial profile and the current profile;
• and
• applying the difference file to the installed initial profile to obtain the current profile.
