Abstract
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a fiber optic cable that includes a first plurality of fibers including a first fiber and a second fiber, and a second plurality of fibers including a third fiber and a fourth fiber, wherein each fiber included in the first plurality of fibers and the second plurality of fibers is separable from a bulk formed from a remainder of the first plurality of fibers and the second plurality of fibers via a peel-and-pull technique such that the remainder of the first plurality of fibers and the second plurality of fibers is undisturbed. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Claims20
A fiber optic cable, comprising:
- a first plurality of fibers including a first fiber and a second fiber;
- and
- a second plurality of fibers including a third fiber and a fourth fiber,
- wherein each fiber included in the first plurality of fibers and the second plurality of fibers is separable from a bulk formed from a remainder of the first plurality of fibers and the second plurality of fibers via a peel-and-pull technique such that the remainder of the first plurality of fibers and the second plurality of fibers is undisturbed.
A system comprising:
- an optical line terminal;
- and
- a fiber optic cable coupled to the optical line terminal, wherein the fiber optic cable includes a plurality of fibers, and wherein each fiber of the plurality of fibers is separable from a remainder of the plurality of fibers in such a way that the remainder is undisturbed.
A method, comprising:
- analyzing, by a processing system including a processor, a first plurality of parameters for providing communication services via an optical communication network or system;
- selecting, by the processing system and based on the analyzing, a second plurality of parameters for a fiber optic cable;
- assembling, based on the selecting, the fiber optic cable in accordance with the second plurality of parameters, resulting in an assembled cable;
- deploying the assembled cable to provide the communication services;
- and
- subsequent to the deploying, peeling-and-pulling at least one fiber included as part of the assembled cable, the at least one fiber being less than a whole of a plurality of fibers included as part of the assembled cable.
