Aircraft Air Data System

A method comprising:

• generating static pressure signals by static pressure sensors coupled to an aircraft, the static pressure signals indicating air pressures at points in or around the aircraft;
• generating dynamic pressure signals by dynamic pressure sensors coupled to the aircraft, the dynamic pressure signals indicating differences in air pressures between points in or around the aircraft;
• calculating IAS (indicated airspeed) signals from the dynamic pressure signals and the static pressure signals, the IAS signals indicating airspeeds of the aircraft;
• calculating pressure altitude signals from the static pressure signals, the pressure altitude signals indicating pressure altitudes of the aircraft;
• generating dynamic fault signals indicating whether faults are detected in the IAS signals;
• generating static fault signals indicating whether faults are detected in the pressure altitude signals;
• selecting one or more of the IAS signals based on the dynamic fault signals;
• selecting one or more of the pressure altitude signals based on the static fault signals;
• and
• at least one of:
• transmitting the selected one or more IAS signals and the selected one or more pressure altitude signals for display to a user of the aircraft;
• or
• partially or fully controlling the aircraft according to the selected one or more IAS signals and the selected one or more pressure altitude signals.

One or more non-transitory computer-readable storage mediums storing instructions that, when executed by one or more computers, cause the one or more computers to:

• generate static pressure signals by static pressure sensors coupled to an aircraft, the static pressure signals indicating air pressures at points in or around the aircraft;
• generate dynamic pressure signals by dynamic pressure sensors coupled to the aircraft, the dynamic pressure signals indicating differences in air pressures between points in or around the aircraft;
• calculate IAS signals from the dynamic pressure signals and the static pressure signals, the IAS signals indicating airspeeds of the aircraft;
• calculate pressure altitude signals from the static pressure signals, the pressure altitude signals indicating pressure altitudes of the aircraft;
• generate dynamic fault signals indicating whether faults are detected in the IAS signals;
• generate static fault signals indicating whether faults are detected in the pressure altitude signals;
• select one or more of the IAS signals based on the dynamic fault signals;
• select one or more of the pressure altitude signals based on the static fault signals;
• and
• at least one of:
• transmit the selected one or more IAS signals and the selected one or more pressure altitude signals for display to a user of the aircraft;
• or
• partially or fully control the aircraft according to the selected one or more IAS signals and the selected one or more pressure altitude signals.
