A submersible vehicle having an elongate shape comprises, arranged along a length of the submersible vehicle, an external surface comprising: a front portion, a middle portion, and a rear portion, a first transitional portion between the front portion and the middle portion, and a second transitional portion between the middle portion and the rear portion; wherein, in a cross-sectional plane perpendicular to the length of the submersible vehicle: the front portion comprises a substantially circular cross-section, the middle portion comprises a substantially triangular cross-section formed of a base surface and, angled relative to the base surface, a first upper surface and a second upper surface, the surfaces joined by radiused vertices, and the rear portion comprises a substantially circular cross-section; the first transitional portion configured such that the substantially circular cross-section of the front portion gradually transitions, along the length of the submersible vehicle, to the substantially triangular cross section of the middle portion, and the second transitional portion configured such that the substantially triangular cross section of the middle portion gradually transitions, along the length of the submersible vehicle, to the substantially circular cross-section of the rear portion.
