Abstract
A method of forming a rivet button in a can end includes providing a sheet material with a base thickness. The sheet material is formed into a shell. A bubble is formed on the shell. The bubble into a rivet button with a top portion. The top portion of the rivet button has a rounded profile. The rounded profile has a plurality of curvatures. Each curvature has a distinct radius of curvature. Finishing operations are performed on the can end.

A method of forming a rivet button in a can end, the method comprising:
- providing a sheet material with a base thickness;
- forming the sheet material into a shell;
- forming a bubble on the shell;
- forming the bubble into a rivet button with a top portion, wherein the top portion comprises a rounded profile having a plurality of curvatures each having a distinct radius of curvature;
- and
- performing finishing operations on the can end.
