Abstract
A handheld musical instrument for playing a variety of audio program, the handheld musical instrument includes a main body portion with one or more sensors, a handle portion engaged with said main body portion, wherein said handle portion includes one or more control buttons to select a type of program to be played by said handheld musical instrument and a gesture detection module for detecting gestures associated with said handheld musical instrument and controlling a tempo associated with said program played by said handheld musical instrument based on said detected gestures.
Claims20
A handheld musical instrument, said handheld musical instrument comprising:
- a main body portion with one or more sensors for detecting tap inputs;
- and
- a sensor distribution module comprising one or more of a sensor distribution circuitry, an analog-to-digital converter, a streaming digital audio loop and drum fill file selector, a sound module, a wireless transceiver and an accelerometer;
- and
- a handle portion engaged with said main body portion wherein said handle portion includes one or more control buttons to select a type of program to be played by said handheld musical instrument;
- and
- a gesture detection module for detecting continuous gestures associated with said handheld musical instrument for synchronization with a live musical performance and converting said gestures to a variable continuous digital tempo dependent time code to control the tempo of supplementing streaming musical or percussion PCM (Pulse-Code Modulation) digital audio files, wherein simultaneously triggering supplementing PCM musical or percussion sounds associated with said program generated by said handheld musical instrument.
A method for using a handheld musical instrument, comprising the steps of:
- detecting tap inputs from one or more sensors;
- providing a sensor distribution module;
- providing one or more control buttons, operatively connected to the sensor distribution module;
- selecting a type of program to be played by said handheld musical instrument utilizing said one or more control buttons;
- detecting, via a gesture detection module, continuous gestures of said handheld musical instrument associated with a live musical performance, and converting the detected gestures into a variable continuous digital tempo-dependent time code, and use the time code to control the tempo of supplementary streaming musical or percussion digital audio files, wherein the sensor distribution module is further configured to simultaneously trigger supplementary percussion sounds associated with the selected program generated by said handheld musical instrument, and
- wherein said sensor distribution module comprises a sensor distribution circuitry and one or more of:
- an analog-to-digital converter, a digital audio loop and drum fil selector, a sound module, a wireless transceiver and an accelerometer.
The method of claim 11, wherein the step of detecting gestures comprises detecting at least one of shaking side to side, moving back and forth or twisting, of said handheld musical instrument.
The method of claim 11, wherein said gesture detection module comprises a movement sensor to detect said physical movements.
A method comprising steps of:
- arranging one or more sensors on a body portion of a handheld musical instrument;
- arranging one or more control buttons on a handle portion of said handheld musical instrument;
- and performing one or more operations associated with said handheld musical instrument with said one or more control buttons.
A method for operating a handheld musical instrument, the method comprising the steps of:
- placing one or more finger velocity sensors on a handle portion of a handheld musical instrument;
- and
- triggering one or more audio sequences with said one or more finger velocity sensors.
The method of claim 1817, further comprising said finger velocity sensors controlling variations associated with said MIDI functions.
Dependencies are inferred from the claim text.
