Testing web-based user interfaces across different software application domains can comprise providing an automation framework comprising a plurality of layers. Each layer of the can define a different set of one or more user interface components and executable code for interacting with each of the user interface components. A test script and an application under test can be executed. The test script can test a user interface of the application under test utilizing a combination of executable code for interacting with user interface components of the application under test from each layer of the plurality of layers of the automation framework. The combination of executable code for interacting with user interface components of the test script utilized by the test script can be based at least in part on a software application domain of the application under test.
