Abstract
The present disclosure is directed to lens, methods of making, designing lens and/or methods using lens in which performance may be improved by providing one or more steps in the central portion of the optical zone and one or more steps in the peripheral portion of the optic zone. In some embodiments, such lens may be useful for correcting refractive error of an eye and/or for controlling eye growth.

1-50. (canceled)
An ophthalmic lens, comprising:
- an optic zone, comprising:
- a primary area having a primary optical power comprising a spherical power component and a cylindrical power component;
- a central portion comprising:
- a first secondary area having a first secondary optical power;
- and
- a first power transition area having a first power transition from the primary area to the first secondary area;
- and
- a peripherical portion comprising:
- a second secondary area having a second secondary optical power;
- and
- a second power transition area having a second power transition from the primary area to the second secondary area.
The ophthalmic lens of claim 1, wherein:
- the first power transition area comprises a first transition region;
- and
- a rate of change in power across the ophthalmic lens in the first transition region is at least 0.5 D/mm.
A toric contact lens, comprising:
- an optic zone, comprising:
- a primary area having a primary optical power comprising:
- a spherical power component configured for correction of myopia;
- and
- a cylindrical power component configured for correction of astigmatism;
- a central portion comprising a first secondary area having a first secondary optical power;
- and
- a peripherical portion comprising a second secondary area having a second secondary optical power.
