A temperature-controlled container includes a main housing having a top portion, a bottom portion, a sidewall, an interior surface, and an exterior surface. A storage cavity is disposed in the main housing. A lid coupled to the main housing is configured to seal the storage chamber. A thermoelectric device and a battery in electrical communication with the thermoelectric device are disposed in the main housing. A first heat absorption element is coupled to the main housing and adjacent to a first end of the thermoelectric device, and a second heat absorption element is coupled to the main housing and adjacent to a second end of the thermoelectric device. Each of the first and second heat absorption elements is in thermal communication with the thermoelectric device. A controller is in communication with a sensor through a transmitter such as a near field communication chip.
