Abstract
Described herein is a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system coupled to a domestic hot water (DHW) system. The HVAC system includes an indoor unit, at least one of the DHW system and/or a thermal energy storage module, an outdoor unit having a compressor and an outdoor heat exchanger, and a flow control assembly configured to selectively fluidically couple any or a combination of the indoor unit, the DHW system, the compressor, the thermal energy storage module, and/or the outdoor heat exchanger, among other components.
Claims17
A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system coupled to a domestic hot water (DHW) system, the HVAC system comprising:
- an indoor unit (IDU);
- at least one of:
- the DHW system and/or a thermal energy storage (TES) module;
- an outdoor unit (ODU) comprising a compressor and an outdoor heat exchanger;
- and
- a flow control assembly comprising:
- a first reversing valve and a second reversing valve,
- wherein the first reversing valve is configured to selectively fluidically couple at least two of:
- the IDU, the DHW system, the compressor, the TES module, the outdoor heat exchanger, and/or the second reversing valve, and
- wherein the second reversing valve is configured to selectively fluidically couple at least two of:
- the IDU, the TES module, the DHW system, the compressor, the outdoor heat exchanger, and/or the first reversing valve.
A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system comprising:
- an indoor unit (IDU)
- a domestic hot water (DHW) system;
- an outdoor unit (ODU);
- and
- a thermal energy storage (TES) module comprising:
- a heating load assembly comprising a heating load TES;
- and/or
- a cooling load assembly comprising a cooling load TES,
- wherein the heating load assembly and the cooling load assembly are in selective fluidic communication with at least one of:
- the DHW system, the IDU, or the ODU.
A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system comprising:
- an indoor unit (IDU)
- a domestic hot water (DHW) system;
- an outdoor unit (ODU);
- and
- a thermal energy storage (TES) module comprising:
- a heating load TES and a cooling load TES;
- and
- a flow control assembly comprising at least one flow selection valve and/or at least one diversion valve configured to selectively enable fluidic communication between the TES module and at least one of:
- the DHW system, the IDU, or the ODU.
