Control system

A method of scheduling the power of a gas turbine power system comprising at least one gas turbine engine, a thermal management system and at least one of a generator or energy storage system, the method comprising:

• receiving an input from an operator relating to a change of demand,
• receiving an input related to the mission plan,
• receiving inputs from each of the systems within the gas turbine engine power system,
• defining a series of constraints based upon the inputs from the power demand and the mission plan to the power event controller,
• using a power event manager of the gas turbine power system, the power event manager having an optimiser function, and using this optimiser function to obtain control reference trajectories which minimise an objective cost function of modelled states, whilst being subject to the series of constraints wherein the method further comprises inputting risk factors into the power event manager, the risk factors further acting as an expression of operator preferences on the optimiser in determining an optimal solution to the input demand, and wherein the risk factors may include at least one of the following:
• acceptable level of probability of performance critical component failure and/or a particular level of degraded performance.
