Abstract
A self-supporting gutter guard device is described, comprising: a bridge member composed of a sheet or micro-mesh decking material having a plurality of orifices, and having a roof side and an opposing gutter lip side; at least one truss spanning a top surface of the bridge member from a proximal end of the bridge member's roof side to a proximal end of the bridge member's gutter lip side; a roof attachment member attached to an end section of the roof side of the bridge member and configured to attach to a roof; and a gutter attachment member attached to an end section of the gutter lip side of the bridge member and configured to attach to a gutter lip, wherein the device is self-supporting.
Claims23
A gutter guard device comprising:
- a bridge member composed of a sheet of micro-mesh material having a plurality of orifices, and having a roof side end and an opposing gutter lip side end;
- at least one first fold spanning the bridge member to form at least one truss disposed upward and on a top surface of the bridge member and unitary from proximal the roof side end to proximal the gutter lip side end;
- a second fold on each terminal end of the at least one trusses, flattening the terminal ends;
- a non-micro-mesh roof attachment member attached to the roof side end and configured to attach to a roof;
- and
- a non-micro-mesh gutter attachment member attached to the gutter lip side end and configured to attach to a gutter lip,
- wherein the device is self-supporting due to strengthening from the at least one truss and debris dries faster from the at least one truss.
A gutter guard comprising:
- a decking having a plurality of orifices, a gutter lip side and a roof side;
- a plurality of main folds of the decking extending from the gutter lip side to the roof side, forming a plurality of unitary trusses on top of the decking;
- secondary flattening folds disposed on opposing ends of the plurality of main folds;
- a roof attachment rail, coupled to the gutter lip side and adjacent to a gutter lip side set of secondary flattening folds;
- and
- a gutter lip attachment rail, coupled to the roof side and adjacent to a roof side set of secondary flattening folds,
- wherein the gutter guard is self-supporting due to the plurality of unitary trusses.
