Abstract
The present invention relates to compositions comprising at least one fluoroolefin and an effective amount of at least one inhibitor. The stabilized compositions may be useful in cooling apparatus, such as refrigeration, air-conditioning, chillers, and heat pumps, as well as in applications as foam blowing agents, solvents, aerosol propellants, fire extinguishants, and sterilants.
Claims6
A composition comprising at least one fluoroolefin comprising HFO-1234f and at least one inhibitor, and wherein the composition contains less than 0.3 wt. % of oligomeric, homopolymers or other polymeric products derived from the HFO-1234yf,
- further comprising at least one member selected from the group consisting of air, oxygen and cumene hydroperoxide,
- wherein the inhibitor comprises at least one member selected from the group consisting of limonene and α-terpinene, and
- wherein the inhibitor is present in an amount of 30 to 1,000 ppm.
A method for reducing formation of oligomers and homopolymers derived from HFO-1234yf comprising contacting a composition comprising at least one fluoroolefin comprising HFO-1234yf with 30 to 1,000 ppm of an inhibitor comprising at least one member selected from the group consisting of limonene and α-terpinene, to reduce homopolymer formation,
- wherein the composition has been exposed to at least one member selected from the group consisting of air, oxygen and cumene hydroperoxide.
