Abstract
The application provides methods of β-methylene C (sp3)-H arylation of diverse free aliphatic acids using bidentate pyridine-pyridone ligands. Herein disclosed are the first examples of methods of Pd(II)-catalyzed intermolecular β-methylene C (sp3)-H arylation of aliphatic carboxylic acids.

A method of β-methylene C(sp3)-H arylation of aliphatic carboxylic acids, comprising treating an aliphatic carboxylic acid with an aryl iodide in the presence of a bidentate pyridine-pyridone ligand (L) and a Pd(II) catalyst.
Any method of β-methylene C(sp3)-H arylation of aliphatic carboxylic acids as disclosed herein.
