Abstract
Disclosed is a method to fill and seal a container for smoking food on a grill. The method includes positioning a container on a conveyor system, receiving the container in a vent hole applicator system, and placing a vent hole in the container with the vent hole applicator system. The method further includes receiving the container in a filling system, positioning the container adjacent to a tube from the filling system, and dispensing a smoke fuel from a hopper into the container through the tube. The method further includes receiving the container in a seam sealing system, positioning a lid onto the container, and curling the lid and container top to form a double seam. The method further includes receiving the container in a packaging system and packaging the container into sale packs for distribution.

A method for producing a product for smoking food, comprising:
- placing a vent hole in a container with a hole applicator of vent hole applicator system while the container is received by a pocket of a housing of the vent hole applicator system;
- inserting a fill tube of a filling system through an opening of the container to dispense smoke fuel into an interior volume of the container;
- and
- sealing the opening of the container with a lid via a sealing system.
A method for producing a product for smoking food, comprising:
- placing a vent hole in a container with a hole applicator of vent hole applicator system while the container is received by a pocket of a housing of the vent hole applicator system;
- applying a removable label to a portion of a side wall of the container with a labeling system;
- dispensing smoke fuel through an opening of the container and into an interior volume of the container with a filling system;
- and
- sealing the opening of the container with a lid via a sealing system;
- wherein the portion of the side wall includes the vent hole.
An assembly for producing a product for smoking food, comprising:
- a vent hole applicator system comprising:
- a housing having a plurality of concave pockets positioned circumferentially along a surface of the housing;
- and
- a plurality of hole applicators to create a vent hole in a container, wherein a hole applicator of the plurality of hole applicators is operable to create the vent hole in the container while the container is received by a pocket of the plurality of pockets;
- a filling system to dispense smoke fuel through an opening of the container and into an interior volume of the container;
- and
- a sealing system to seal the opening of the container with a lid.
