Aspects concern a method for regenerating an air purification component of a cabin air system of a vehicle, the method including determining whether the vehicle is in an indoor environment or an outdoor environment and initiating an air purification component regeneration procedure for the air purification component in response to a positive determination of the vehicle being in the outdoor environment.

A method for regenerating an air purification component of a cabin air system of a vehicle, the method comprising:
- determining whether the vehicle is in an indoor environment or an outdoor environment;
- and
- initiating an air purification component regeneration procedure for the air purification component in response to a positive determination of the vehicle being in the outdoor environment.
A cabin air system controller, for regenerating an air purification component of a cabin air system of a vehicle, the cabin air system controller comprising:
- at least one processor;
- and
- at least one memory storing instructions which, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the cabin air system controller to:
- determine whether the vehicle is in an indoor environment or an outdoor environment;
- and
- initiate an air purification component regeneration procedure for the air purification component in response to a positive determination of the vehicle being in the outdoor environment.
A vehicle having a cabin air system, the cabin air system comprising a cabin air system controller configured to regenerate an air purification component of the cabin air system, the cabin air system controller comprising at least one processor configured to:
- determine whether the vehicle is in an indoor environment or an outdoor environment;
- and
- initiate an air purification component regeneration procedure for the air purification component in response to a positive determination of the vehicle being in the outdoor environment.
