Abstract
Techniques for a network protocol for devices and nodes withing a wireless network include a method that includes receiving, by a first node included in a subtree of nodes within a wireless network, a first address list from a second node, the second node being a parent of the first node in the wireless network, wherein the first address list includes addresses of nodes along a path between the second node and a root node of the subtree of nodes; and in response to an address of the first node being included in the first address list, disconnecting, by the first node, from the second node.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- receiving, by a first node included in a subtree of nodes within a wireless network, a first address list from a second node, the second node being a parent of the first node in the wireless network, wherein the first address list includes addresses of nodes along a path between the second node and a root node of the subtree of nodes;
- and
- in response to an address of the first node being included in the first address list, disconnecting, by the first node, from the second node.
One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing program instructions that, when executed by one or more processors associated with a first network device included in a subtree of network devices included in a mesh network, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
- periodically receiving a message from a second network device, the second network device being a parent network device to the first network device, the message including a first list of addresses of network devices between the second network device and a root network device of the subtree of network devices;
- and
- in response to determining that the first list of addresses includes a network address of the first network device, ending a network connection with the second network device.
A first battery powered device (BPD) in a wireless network, the first BPD comprising:
- one or more processors, and
- a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
- receiving a message from a second BPD included in the wireless network, the message including a list of addresses of BPDs providing a path from the second BPD to a root BPD of a subtree of the wireless network;
- and
- in response to a determination that the list of addresses includes an address of the first BPD, terminating a connection with the second BPD.
