Abstract
Boost is provided. A circuit of a cable modem can be configured to receive, at a first input, a first message from a device over a channel, the channel comprising various subcarriers. The circuit can determine a transfer function associated with each of the subcarriers, the transfer function including an indication of power transfer between the circuit and the device. The circuit can determine, using the transfer functions, a power adjustments corresponding to the subcarriers. The circuit can determine, using the power adjustments, another power adjustment for the channel. The circuit can transmit, at a first output, a second message over the channel, the transmit power of the second message responsive to each of the power adjustments.
Claims20
A system comprising a circuit configured to:
- receive a vector for a plurality of subcarriers of a channel;
- identify a first quantity of subcarriers using the vector;
- and
- adjust, based at least on a proportion of the subcarriers of the channel that are power-limited, a dynamic range window (DRW) for the channel.
A device configured to:
- receive a first vector for a plurality of subcarriers of a channel at a first time;
- identify a first quantity of subcarriers using the first vector;
- receive a second vector for the plurality of subcarriers of the channel at a second time;
- identify a second quantity of power-limited subcarriers using the second vector;
- detect a channel health using the first quantity and the second quantity;
- and
- perform an action responsive to the detection of the channel health.
A cable modem, comprising a circuit configured to:
- identify a vector for a channel;
- determine a power scaling value for the channel using the vector;
- use the vector to modify signal levels for the channel in response to a determination that a threshold exceeds the power scaling value;
- identify an adjustment to a dynamic range window (DRW) in response to a determination that the power scaling value exceeds the threshold;
- and
- transmit an indication of the adjustment.
