Abstract
Systems, methods, and apparatus for a junction box assembly are described. A junction box assembly can include or contain devices and components, such as any of the following: a junction box having an interior for containing any of devices and components included in the junction box assembly; a base plate having a central opening and a periphery attaching to the junction box; a grounding wire attached to the base plate; a device connected to the grounding wire and disposed in the central opening of the base plate; a button array having any number of buttons and attaching to the device; and a face plate disposed to attach to the base plate and to surround the button array.
Claims20
A junction box assembly comprising:
- a base plate;
- and
- a button disposed on the base plate, wherein the button includes a light blocking horn disposed at a front of the button for blocking light, wherein the button is formed using two different shots of mold, one shot of mold being a transparent material and another shot of mold being an opaque material, and wherein a part of the button is opaque to block unwanted light.
The junction box assembly of 1, wherein the light blocking horn is designed into a front end of the button.
The junction box assembly of 2, wherein light between buttons is blocked by the light blocking horn.
The junction box assembly of 3, wherein use of foam is minimized by the light blocking horn blocking light between buttons.
The junction box assembly of 1, wherein the button comprises a backlit button having a molding process including more than one shot of mold.
The junction box assembly of 5, wherein the button is molded using two shots of mold in a two-shot molding process.
The junction box assembly of 6, wherein the two-shot molding technique isolates light transfer to a specific location on the button.
The junction box assembly of 1, further comprising light blocking foam attached to the button for light blocking.
The junction box assembly of 8, further comprising an ESD shield, wherein a piece of light blocking foam is adhered to a front of the ESD shield to block light between buttons.
The junction box assembly of 1, further comprising a button base, wherein the button base is molded as one element simultaneously providing a light pipe feature for guiding light and a button base for the button.
A light management system for a junction box assembly comprising:
- a plurality of buttons, each button having a front portion;
- and
- a plurality of light blocking horns, wherein a light blocking horn is designed into a front of each button for blocking light between the plurality of buttons, wherein each button is formed using a two-shot molding process with a transparent material shot and an opaque material shot, and wherein the opaque material blocks unwanted light to isolate light transfer to specific locations on each button.
The light management system of 11, wherein the light blocking horn is disposed at a front end of each button.
The light management system of 12, wherein light emitted between buttons is blocked by the plurality of light blocking horns.
The light management system of 11, wherein each button comprises a backlit button having a molding process including more than one shot of mold.
The light management system of 14, wherein the two-shot molding technique isolates light transfer to a specific location on an area of each button.
The light management system of 11, further comprising light blocking foam disposed between the plurality of buttons for additional light blocking.
The light management system of 16, further comprising an ESD shield, wherein a small piece of light blocking foam is adhered to a front of the ESD shield to block light between the plurality of buttons.
The light management system of 11, further comprising a button base for each button, wherein each button base functions as a structural component that is also a light pipe component.
The light management system of 18, wherein each button base is molded as one element simultaneously providing a light pipe feature for guiding light and a button base for a button, and wherein there is no separate plastic light diffuser.
The light management system of 11, wherein the light blocking horn at the front of each button and the two-shot molding process with transparent and opaque materials work in combination to block light between buttons and isolate light transfer to specific locations, thereby minimizing use of additional foam pieces and providing aesthetic user experience with reduced backlight bleed.
