A coupler for housing an electrical or telecommunications cable, the coupler comprising:
- a first annular portion extending along a longitudinal axis;
- a second annular portion extending along the longitudinal axis, the second annular portion longitudinally offset from the first annular portion;
- an inner flange positioned longitudinally intermediate the first annular portion and the second annular portion;
- a first annular recess positioned within the first annular portion and a second annular recess positioned within the second annular portion, the first annular recess and the second annular recess each having a first depth;
- a third annular recess positioned within the first annular portion and a fourth annular recess positioned within the second annular portion, the third annular recess and the second annular recess each having a second depth that is less than the first depth;
- a first seal configured to sit within the first annular recess and a second seal configured to sit within the second annular recess;
- a first biasing member configured to sit within the third annular recess and a second biasing member configured to sit within the fourth annular recess;
- a first shoulder positioned along an outer surface of the first annular portion, the first shoulder extending over the first annular recess and the third annular recess, the first shoulder comprising a first tapered portion and a second tapered portion;
- and
- a second shoulder positioned along an outer surface of the second annular portion, the second shoulder extending over the second annular recess and the fourth annular recess, the second shoulder comprising a third tapered portion and a fourth tapered portion.
A method of inserting a conduit into a coupler, the method comprising:
- inserting a first end of a first conduit into a first annular portion of a coupler, the coupler comprising:
- the first annular portion extending along a longitudinal axis;
- a second annular portion extending along the longitudinal axis, the second annular portion longitudinally offset from the first annular portion;
- an inner flange positioned longitudinally intermediate the first annular portion and the second annular portion;
- a first annular recess positioned within the first annular portion and a second annular recess positioned within the second annular portion, the first annular recess and the second annular recess each having a first depth;
- a third annular recess positioned within the first annular portion and a fourth annular recess positioned within the second annular portion, the third annular recess and the second annular recess each having a second depth that is less than the first depth;
- a first seal configured to sit within the first annular recess and a second seal configured to sit within the second annular recess;
- a first biasing member configured to sit within the third annular recess and a second biasing member configured to sit within the fourth annular recess;
- a first shoulder positioned along an outer surface of the first annular portion, the first shoulder extending over the first annular recess and the third annular recess, the first shoulder comprising a first tapered portion and a second tapered portion;
- and
- a second shoulder positioned along an outer surface of the second annular portion, the second shoulder extending over the second annular recess and the fourth annular recess, the second shoulder comprising a third tapered portion and a fourth tapered portion.
