Clutch with regeneration capability

A differential comprising:

• a differential housing comprising a first plurality of pawl elements and a first plurality of pockets;
• at least one spider gear rotatably attached to the differential housing;
• a first output gear configured to be coupled to a first shaft, the first output gear engaging the at least one spider gear;
• a second output gear configured to be coupled to a second shaft, the second output gear engaging the at least one spider gear;
• and
• a ring gear comprising a second plurality of pockets and a second plurality of pawl elements, wherein:
• the first plurality of pockets are configured to receive the second plurality of pawl elements;
• and
• the second plurality of pockets are configured to receive the first plurality of pawl elements.

A method comprising:

• engaging a pawl element of a first plurality of pawl elements with a pocket of a second plurality of pockets, the first plurality of pawl elements located in a drive plate, and the second plurality of pockets located on a transfer plate;
• and
• engaging a pawl element of a second plurality of pawl elements with a pocket of a first plurality of pockets, the second plurality of pawl elements located in the transfer plate, and the first plurality of pockets located on the drive plate, wherein:
• the first plurality of pockets are configured to receive the second plurality of pawl elements;
• and
• the second plurality pockets are configured to receive the first plurality of pawl elements.
