A dog clutch engagement control system is provided, including a dog clutch with first and second clutch members connected to input and output shafts, each having engagement teeth arranged circumferentially. The clutch members can switch between engaged and disengaged states, either directly or via an intermediate member. A clutch actuator moves the clutch members or the intermediate member axially. The system further includes a phase difference sensor for detecting a phase difference between the clutch members and a controller that outputs drive instructions to the actuator based on engagement timing. The controller predicts future engagement timing using sensor output and estimated input shaft speed, enabling precise synchronization during clutch engagement.
