Abstract
Medical devices and method for making and using the same are disclosed. An example medical device may include implantable medical device for use along the biliary and/or pancreatic tract. The implantable medical device may include a tubular member having a first end configured to be disposed within the duodenum of a patient and a second end configured to be disposed adjacent to a pancreatic duct and/or bile duct. The tubular member may have a body including one or more wire filaments that are woven together. The tubular member may also have an outer surface with a longitudinal channel formed therein.
Claims20
An implantable stent for use along a biliary and/or pancreatic tract, comprising:
- a tubular member having a first end, a second end, and a central lumen extending therethrough;
- wherein the tubular member is formed by extruding, molding, or casting a metallic or polymeric material;
- wherein the tubular member has an outer surface defining a plurality of longitudinal channels extending therein;
- wherein each of the plurality of longitudinal channels has a predetermined depth extending radially inward from the outer surface;
- and
- wherein a plurality of openings are formed in the tubular member to provide fluid communication between the central lumen and an exterior of the stent.
An implantable stent for use along a biliary and/or pancreatic tract, comprising:
- a tubular body having a first end, a second end, an outer surface, and a central lumen;
- wherein the tubular body includes one or more wire filaments;
- wherein the outer surface of the tubular body includes at least one circumferential channel extending around the outer surface;
- wherein the outer surface of the tubular body includes at least one longitudinal channel extending along the outer surface;
- and
- wherein the at least one circumferential channel intersects with the at least one longitudinal channel, wherein the at least one circumferential channel and the at least one longitudinal channel collectively define fluid pathways configured to drain fluid from side branches of a pancreatic duct and/or bile duct.
An implantable stent comprising:
- a tubular body formed of one or more interwoven wire filaments, the tubular body having a first end, a second end, an outer surface, and a central lumen;
- wherein the tubular body includes only two longitudinal channels formed in the outer surface, the two longitudinal channels positioned diametrically opposite each other on the outer surface and extending along a length of the tubular body;
- and
- a covering is disposed on the outer surface of the tubular body, the covering including a plurality of openings formed therein providing fluid communication to the central lumen.
