Abstract
A repair suture consists of a strand of suture including a first end defining an opening and a second end capable of passing through the opening. The first end has a flat profile and a predetermined thickness, and the second end has a round profile with a diameter that is less than the thickness of the first end. The first end is passed through a first section of tissue and the second end is passed through a second section of tissue. The second end passed through the opening defined by first end to form a “luggage tag” configuration. The second end is then passed through an opening in a lateral suture anchor which is implanted in hard tissue.
Claims8
A method for repairing tissue, comprising:
- obtaining a suture, the suture including a first end defining an opening and a second end capable of passing through the opening, wherein the first end is formed of a material having a flat profile and a predetermined thickness, and the second end is formed of a material having a round profile and a diameter that is less than the predetermined thickness of the first end;
- passing the first end through a first section of tissue;
- passing the second end through a second section of tissue;
- forming a luggage tag configuration by passing the second end through the opening defined by first end;
- passing the second end through an opening in a lateral suture anchor;
- and
- implanting the lateral suture anchor in hard tissue.
