Abstract
Direction-finding antenna arrays are positioned adjacent the interior surface of one or more aircraft fuselage windows. Such positioning may be means of a frame or other structure that is non-intrusively positioned on the fuselage interior wall adjacent the window and to which the antenna array is secured. Alternatively, a movable floor-supported installation fixture is selectively movable into position relative to fuselage windows and supports one or more antenna arrays adjacent those windows.

A method of deploying a first direction-finding antenna array inside an aircraft fuselage, wherein the array is configured to emit a first beam pattern establishing a field of view for the first antenna array, said method comprising positioning the first antenna array adjacent an interior surface of a first window of the aircraft fuselage such that the first beam pattern projects through the first window from inside the aircraft.

Apparatus for deploying a first direction-finding antenna array in an aircraft, wherein the first antenna array has a predetermined beam pattern establishing a field of view for the first antenna array, said apparatus comprising:
- a frame member removably secured to a wall portion surrounding at least a portion of a window of the aircraft;
- wherein the first antenna array is configured to be secured to the frame member in a position adjacent an interior surface of the window such that its beam pattern is projectable through the window.
A method for deploying a first direction-finding antenna array in an aircraft fuselage, wherein the first antenna array has a predetermined beam pattern establishing a field of view for the first antenna array, said method comprising:
- deploying the first antenna array in a frame member removably secured to a wall portion of the fuselage and surrounding at least a portion of a window of the fuselage;
- and
- configuring the first antenna array to be secured to the frame member in a position adjacent an interior surface of the window such that the beam pattern is projectable through the window from inside the fuselage.
