Apochromatic objective

A microscope objective, comprising:

• a first lens group with positive refractive power;
• a second lens group with negative refractive power;
• and
• a third lens group with positive refractive power,
• wherein:
• the microscope objective is apochromatically corrected over a range of from 435 nm to 656 nm;
• a lateral chromatic aberration is at most half an Airy diameter (dAiry) of the microscope objective;
• the microscope objective has a flattened field of view with a diameter (Obj);
• the microscope objective has a numerical aperture (NA);
• NA*Obj>1 mm;
• and
• the microscope is an apochromatic microscope objective.
