Sheet recognition unit, sheet handling device, sheet recognition method, and non-transitory computer-readable storage medium

A sheet recognition method, comprising:

• a first step of irradiating a sheet to be recognized with light having a specific wavelength from a light source;
• a second step of receiving light arriving from the sheet to be recognized, based on the light from the light source at a plurality of light receiving elements of a light sensor, and outputting light detection signals;
• and
• a third step of recognizing the sheet to be recognized, using the light detection signals output from the light sensor,
• wherein the plurality of light receiving elements respectively include a plurality of color filters that transmit infrared light and have different visible transmission characteristics, and
• wherein in the third step, arithmetic is performed on light amount data based on the light detection signals output from the light sensor, depending on a ratio of genuine reference data, an amount of at least one color in visible light and an amount of infrared light are calculated, and the sheet to be recognized is recognized based on calculated results.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a sheet recognition program that causes a sheet recognition unit to perform:

• first processing for irradiating a sheet to be recognized with light having a specific wavelength from a light source;
• second processing for receiving light arriving from the sheet to be recognized, based on the light from the light source at a plurality of light receiving elements of a light sensor, and outputting light detection signals;
• and
• third processing for recognizing the sheet to be recognized, using the light detection signals output from the light sensor,
• wherein the plurality of light receiving elements respectively include a plurality of color filters that transmit infrared light and have different visible transmission characteristics, and
• wherein in the third processing, arithmetic is performed on light amount data based on the light detection signals output from the light sensor, depending on a ratio of genuine reference data, an amount of at least one color in visible light and an amount of infrared light are calculated, and the sheet to be recognized is recognized based on calculated results.
